Hundreds of community organizations across Quebec are interrupting their services this day to raise awareness in the populace and the government on the impact of underfunding in the community.
The overall claims brought forth by all the organizations include:
-The respect of autonomy by community organizations and the acknowledgement of their work as an indicator of social progress;
-Full financing of the global mission of all autonomous community action organizations to which they are entitled;
-Annual indexation of grants to match operational costs;
-The end of budget squeezes and a major reinvestment in public services and social programs.
