This March 27th, the singer-songwriter, Charlotte Cardin and La Bronze gave a show at the cabaret La Tulipe for the benefit of Auberge Madeleine to celebrate the 35th anniversary of our shelter.

Charlotte Cardin, spokesperson for Auberge Madeleine since 2016 gave special renditions of her successes, including a favoured song of her grandfather, “Les échardes”. Her grandfather, Robert Goyer, Treasurer of the Auberge for more than twenty years, was especially moved by his granddaughter’s performance. Once again, with her unique voice, original compositions and her irresistible charm, Charlotte captivated the audience.

A surprise guest, Aliocha, joined Charlotte to perform several duets, and with their combined talent and energy, they brought the house down. Charlotte even mentioned that one of Aliocha’s compositions was her own very favourite song in the world.

On her part, La Bronze, accompanied by her pianist, made the place vibrate with her bursting energy. Her interpretation in Arabic of Stromae’s “Formidable” was to my mind the highlight of her performance.

We wish to thank the Fordia Foundation, key anchor of the show and the following sponsors: Ivanhoe Cambridge; Caisse Desjardins du Quartier-Latin de Montréal; AXOR Experts-Conseils; Céleste Levure.

We also thank the following people who helped make this event such a success: Lise Jean, Event Coordinator, Ginette Marcotte, Luc Paquet and Patricia Paquet, members of the Finance Committee of the Auberge; Karine Bernard, Lydia Juliano and Billie-Prisca Giroux, engaged partners; Hélène, Elisa J. Monette, Suzanne Desmeules: volunteers; Anne Fourquier, Cheima Hassine, Adélie Bellemarre of Auberge.

Thanks to all these folks and the support of the audience, the event was a true success: 450 spectators and a revenue of 50 000$.
